Meet Dr Graeme S. Reid, Programme Leader and tutor on our Applied Clinical Psychology MSc.
About Dr Graeme S. Reid
Dr Reid is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in adult community mental health services in North West England.
After completing his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Liverpool University in 2020, he has had over 20 years experience of working in mental health services within the NHS. This has included working within Primary Care, Early Intervention for Psychosis, Adult Community Mental Health, Assessment and Home Treatment, Acute Inpatient, and Psychiatric Intensive Care settings.
Dr Reid currently leads a psychology team working with people who experience severe and complex mental health difficulties within a community mental health setting and is clinical lead for psychological therapies for psychosis and bipolar presentations within a specialist NHS mental health trust.
In addition to his NHS work, Dr Reid works in independent practice providing training, supervision and therapy. He is currently Joint Chair of the Community Mental Health network within the DCP Psychosis and Complex Mental Health Faculty of the British Psychological Society.
Whilst primarily working as a senior NHS clinician, Dr Reid has retained his academic interests. He has held honorary academic appointments at the Universities of Manchester and Lancaster, regularly supervises doctoral research projects and has co-authored a number of academic publications including original research, theory and systematic reviews.
Dr Reid has interests in psychological approaches to understanding and helping people experiencing psychosis and extreme mood states, trauma and psychosis, cognitive behavioural therapies, mental imagery, and family interventions.
He also provides specialist teaching to Clinical Psychology Doctoral programmes in NW England, has spoken at national conferences and has delivered training workshops in the UK and overseas.
